RCC’s FAMILY MINISTRY PRESENTS

2013 Parenting Community Groups

1-2-3 Magic

Start 2013 off right by sharpening your parenting tools.  RCC will be hosting a parenting class for parents of children ages 3-10 entitled 1-2-3 Magic led by Gail Martin. This is a practical and helpful parenting technique that has revolutionized both homes and schools across America.

Guiding Good Choices

This practical parenting course taught by Karen Gerdts will be helpful to parents of children ages 11 and older who are navigating the murky waters of parenting pre-teens & teens.  Topics include:

How to Say No
How to Develop Healthy Beliefs and Clear Standards
How to Control & Express Your Anger Constructively
How to Strengthen Family Bonds

These 6-week courses will be held at RCC on Friday evenings (January 11, 18, 25 and February 1, 8, 15) from 7-8:30pm.  Childcare will be provided.  A $50/family registration will cover materials and childcare (this portion will be donated to help students pay to attend Workcamp New England).

The Art of Marriage – January 4-5, 2013

14. November, 2012Events, Staff BlogNo comments

Have you always wanted to attend A Weekend to Remember but have never been able to find the time or money to pull away for an entire weekend?  RCC is thrilled to offer an alternative for couples who want to make an investment in their marriage: The Art of Marriage.  This one-and-a-half day video event is built on the same biblical content as Weekend to Remember but is hosted by a local church.  With limiting the cost to materials and food, the registration fee is only $50/couple.  Because we highly value this “retreat” for couples, we are unable to offer child care at RCC.  So, get creative and plan that long overdue sleepover for your kids with grandparents or other relatives or close family friends.  Or, contact Amy Snyder for a list of RCC teens who are available for babysitting.

Here is what you will experience during The Art of Marriage, on Friday and Saturday, January 4 and 5th:

Friday evening, couples will gather from 7:00 to 9:30 pm to begin a weekend of marriage renewal.  Popcorn and drinks will be served as we experience “Love Happens” and “Love Fades” via a video presentation which includes: teaching by renowned marriage experts, engaging stories, real-life testimonies, man-on-the-street interviews and humorous vignettes.  Couples will go home with a project to complete that evening.  Saturday morning at 9:00 am, couples will once again gather at RCC to experience “Love Dances”, “Love Interrupted”, “Love Sizzles” and “Love Always”.  The video presentations will be broken up by breaks for snacks and lunch and times for couples to meet one-on-one to work through projects related to The Art of Marriage material.  The day will be wrapped up by 4:00 pm on Saturday.

KidzRock Virtue of the Month – November 2011

3. November, 2011Kidz RockNo comments

The season of Thanksgiving is upon us.
In that same spirit, GRATITUDE is our virtue for the month of November.

We will kick off the month of Gratitude with our first Xtreme Kidz: Live! of the month on Saturday, November 5 at 4PM.

Be sure to watch November’s Virtue Video here.  This will help you begin to think about what your child is learning in Kidz Rock and at Xtreme Kidz: Live! this month, so the church and the home can work on the same thing at the same time.

You can pick up November’s pack of God Time Cards at Xtreme Kidz: Live! on Saturday or at Kidz Rock on Sunday morning.  Be sure to add them to your Family Yearbook and keep it where your family is most likely to spend time together: the breakfast or dinner table, on the coffee table next to the couch or next to the bed.

November’s Widget is a Thank You/Invitation for the person or family of your child’s choosing.  They will give this card to someone special in their life to say thank you for being special and to invite them to a Thanksgiving potluck following Xtreme Kidz: Live! on Saturday, November 19.  Sign up at RCC to bring food and participate in this Potluck of Gratitude.

A Nor’Easter Trunk-or-Treat

3. November, 2011Kidz RockNo comments

On Saturday, October 29, 2011, RCC held its first-ever Trunk-or-Treat following Xtreme Kidz: Live! Despite the weather, we had a great turn-out. View more photos on our KidzRock blog.

A little snow never stopped New Englander's from Trunk or Treating! Now, the down trees and power lines are another story.

KidzRock Virtue of the Month – October 2011

7. October, 2011Kidz RockNo comments

Fall is here!  God’s creativity is at play all around us as He changes the landscape from season to season.
What a great month to have CREATIVTY! as our virtue.

NO Xtreme Kidz: LIVE! Saturday, October 8th.  We will be back next Saturday, October 15th at 4PM.

Be sure to watch October’s Virtue Video here.  This will help you begin to think about what your child is learning in Kidz Rock and at Xtreme Kidz: Live! this month, so the church and the home can work on the same thing at the same time.

If you didn’t make it to Xtreme Kidz: LIVE! in September, your family didn’t get their 252Basics Family Yearbook.  Don’t worry, you can pick one up the next Sunday you are at RCC.

You can now pick up your family’s God Time Cards weekly or take an entire month’s worth of God Time Cards to put in your Family Yearbook because we believe what happens at home is even more important than what happens at church.  Kidz Rock is a spring board to you being your child’s spiritual leader.

We will top off October with a great party following Xtreme Kidz: LIVE! on October 29th, read more here.

Trunk or Treat – October 29, 2011

6. October, 2011Events, Kidz RockNo comments

Xtreme Kidz Live & the TRUNK-OR-TREAT is still on for this evening, starting at 4pm. In case of bad weather, we will move everything inside (except your trunks of course).

Who?
RCC families and their guests will enjoy a fun night of family worship and Trunk or Treating.

What?
Trunk or Treat: Adults and kids alike are invited to dress up in their best (non-scary) costume and decorate their trunks (Yes, there will be a contest!) to create a fun and inviting environment for kids to collect their treats.  Don’t forget to fill a bucket with candy for all our little Trunk or Treators.

When?
Saturday, October 29th @ 4PM, Trunk or Treat will begin immediately following Xtreme Kidz: LIVE!

Where?
RCC Parking Lot

Why?
FUN! FUN! FUN!  A great opportunity for RCC families to invite friends and neighbors to Xtreme Kidz: LIVE! and enjoy some of the fun of the fall season.

How?
We will be able to pull off this fun night with the help of all the RCC families decorating their trunks and providing candy for all the little Trunk or Treators.

E-mail Amy Snyder with any questions.

2011-2012 Family Ministry Kick-off

9. September, 2011Kidz Rock, RCC Students, Staff BlogNo comments

With summer behind us, a new school year underway and families settling back into routines, we are ready to kick-off another great ministry season in RCC’s Family Ministry.  Here is a rundown of what you and your family can expect this weekend, September 10th and 11th.

  • Xtreme Kidz Live!  Join us Saturday afternoon at 4PM at RCC for the kick-off to our best family worship season yet.  You won’t want to miss out on getting one of September’s Widget.  It is something your family will use for months and, hopefully, years, to come.  Following an hour of singing, laughing and learning together, you are invited to hang out with friends while the kids jump in a jump house and enjoy popcorn and snow cones.  Hope to see you there!
  • Kidz Rock:  Sunday, September 11th launches RCC’s new morning worship schedule at 9, 10:15 and 11:30AM.  For many of our children, it is the Sunday to move up to the next age group in Kidz Rock.  Our new or soon-to-be 3 year olds will be moving to the Preschool room.  The new Kindergarten children will be moving up to the K-2nd Grade group.  And, our new 3rd graders will be moving to the upper elementary group for 3rd-5th Graders.  You know your child, so do what you know is best to prepare them for these transitions.
  • Youth Group:  Finally, the newly initiated Middle School students will be participating in their first youth group on Sunday evening from 6-8PM.  Although we will miss them being a part of Kidz Rock on Sunday mornings, we are excited about all of the students who have already signed up to serve on a regular basis on Sunday morning in Kidz Rock.  Along with the first youth group is the first Parent Group of the year.  We hope many parents of teens will make this a priority the first Sunday of every month during youth group.
