Christmas Gifts With A Spiritual Emphasis

christmas-gifts-spiritual-emphasis

For every family, the Christmas season has its traditions. As our children were growing out of the crazy, survival-mode infant and toddler years, we began to settle into some traditions.

The Snyder Family Christmas morning consists of three gifts for each person and a stocking full of goodies. The three gifts fall in three categories: something valuable ($$), something practical (usually clothing), and something spiritual. The third category, something spiritual, has us constantly on the lookout for what we believe each child needs to help them grow closer to God in the coming year.

We also write a blessing to each child that accompanies this gift and we read it to them after opening it (more on this in a future blog post). Here are a few of the spiritual gift ideas we have explored and/or given over the years:

What’s Coming Up for Parents in March 2014

Hi, Youth Group Parents!

As some of you know but some of you may not know, we have a monthly group for parents of the students in the youth group. This is a great place for parents navigating the sometimes rough waters of parenting teens to find support, ask questions and learn more about what students are discussing in youth group.

The month of March is a particularly important time for parents to really engage in what their student is discussing in youth group. The topic is Dating & Sex. Of course, this will be handled delicately and age-appropriately with all the different ages represented in youth group. We are also very hopeful that many of you have already begun conversations with your teens about this topic.

We would love to continue partnering with you by having you attend the March Youth Group Parent Gathering, Sunday, March 2. You are welcome to join us from 6-7 PM to worship and learn alongside your student. The parents will then pull away for a discussion time from 7-8 PM. We hope to see you then!

Also, we would love for you and your teen to join RCC as we attend the Worth It conference on April 5 in Greenland, NH. This one-day event brings in great speakers, including professional athletes, to talk to you and your students about dating and saving sex for marriage. Find out more on the RCC Student blog.

If you have any questions, please contact Steve Cullum or Amy Snyder.
