Elders
Under the authority of Jesus Christ and immersed in prayer, these men are responsible for the church’s overall health and growth. They are charged by God to guard and guide the congregation in the areas of: (1) Doctrine (teaching); (2) Direction (vision for ministry); and (3) Discipline (individual and collective spiritual development). They are not responsible to do all the ministry and teaching, but they are responsible for all the ministry and teaching that gets done. In other words, the buck stops with them. Scriptures that describe the elder’s character and role include I Timothy 3:1-11 and Titus 1:5-9.

In future years, as God leads and provides, other men will be appointed to serve in this capacity. The elders work side-by-side with the ministry staff to provide visionary leadership and pastoral care for God’s people and God’s potential people in Salem and the surrounding communities. If you have questions or spiritual needs, contact them at any time.
