While being very active in reaching out to the local community, RCC also highly values worldwide, cross-cultural mission work. From day one, we’ve been financially faithful by setting aside at least 10% of our budget for missions.
Our Global Outreach Team is led by Shelley Eideh and includes several other RCCers. Its purpose is to engage all of RCC’s people in extending Jesus’ ministry globally, across cultural and language barriers – “The whole church, taking the whole Gospel, to the whole world, before Jesus comes again!” This team would love to see every RCCer participating in Christ’s global mission in at least one of four ways. You can be a:
- Sender - By taking interest in one or more missionaries through prayer, correspondence, and/or giving.
- Welcomer – By communicating God’s Good News in your own area of influence, including welcoming and befriending internationals.
- Mobilizer – By active involvement with the Global Outreach Team.
- Goer – By participation in short-term mission trips, or commitment to a career in missions.
Currently, from our general offerings we give substantial monthly support to the following works:
- Manchester Korean Christian Church: Located in Manchester, NH, this church reaches out primarily to the Korean-speaking people in the area.
- Pioneer Bible Translators: Specifically the work of Chris and Lori Urton in Papua New Guinea. Their primary project is the translation of the Bible into the language of the Sob people, one of hundreds of ethnic groups in PNG.
- Restoration House Ministries: Based in Manchester, NH, this is a resource center for planting new churches and assisting established ones throughout New England. RHM was the main entity responsible for launching RCC in 2001.
- Sojourn Collegiate Ministries: This is a Christian Campus Ministry in the Boston area. Their primary work is with students at Harvard University, M.I.T., and Boston University, with plans and potential toexpand to campuses throughout New England.
- SouthPointe Christian Church in Rhode Island: This is a new church plant with plans to launch in the fall of 2011. It will be located in the general South Providence area.
We also give 10% of the proceeds of our “GO!” capital funds campaign to church-planting works beyond RCC. They are:
- SouthPointe Christian Church in Rhode Island: This is a new church plant with plans to launch in the fall of 2011. It will be located in the general South Providence area.
- Asia-Pacific Christian Mission International: Under the auspices of this organization, we entirely underwrite a new church located in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, where the population is a mix of Buddhists, animists, and Muslims.
- Graceland Ministries: Located in Krakow, Poland, Graceland engages people through English classes, discussion groups, Bible studies, cultural exchanges, and business events.
Beyond financial contributions, RCC is involved in world mission through prayer and supportive relationships with our missionary partners. We’re in the process of planning our first mission trip to one of these fields, so stay tuned for details!
On top of all these missions that receive our monthly support, we also have others we support in different ways.
- Operation Christmas Child: In November of each year, the RCC family is encouraged to send gift boxes to children all across the world in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse.
- Workcamp New England: Every summer, a group of high school students from RCC partners with other youth groups across the country to reach out and serve a community in New England for a week-long mission trip.
